Gurtej Singh was a young soldier from Punjab, India, who showed incredible bravery during a clash with Chinese soldiers in Galwan Valley on June 15, 2020. Gurtej was part of the "3rd Punjab Ghatak Platoon," and he was known for his courage.

During the clash, Gurtej, although only armed with simple weapons like a kirpan, fought against several Chinese soldiers. He managed to push some of them off a cliff but fell down himself. Luckily, he landed on a large rock which saved him from falling further.

Despite being badly hurt and covered in blood, Gurtej didn't give up. He got up and continued to fight, showing great heroism. Gurtej Singh defeated a total of 12 Chinese soldiers by himself.

Sadly, Gurtej Singh was eventually overpowered and lost his life in the battle. But because of his bravery, he was awarded the Vir Chakra, the third highest military honor in India, after he was martyred.
