British Columbia Class 8 logging trucks rigged out to haul "long logs." The legal length of long logs (Long wood) for transport on British Columbia highways is 24 m (80 feet). Hayrack and pole trailer setups are most commonly utilized for hauling long logs.
Short logs or short wood (Also known as Cut-to-length: CTL) is the alternative form of transporting logs from high atop mountainsides to the processing mills located hours away. Short logs get its name from being cut to specific lengths by the harvesting equipment felling the trees . Log contractors cut the wood to the processing mill's specifications.
